Completed 2.0 preparation conversion, assembly and orientation of A20, A6M & F4F, 50% through B5N.

Noted 'again' we need a cockpit for the A20 if anyone is bored of waiting?

This is an interactive 3D PDF of the completed A6M2-21 external model prepped and ready for TR 2.0 animation. I plan for our future TR web site to have these 3D PDFs available for each model and mark of aircraft in TR.

Now thats an excellent format to keep an overview of the planes !
How about linking in other info as well say about cockpit instruments startup etc ?

Yes, but to add text I think I need to 'purchase' an Adobie Creator Wink

This is done in deep exploration, a 3D manipulator.

Mossie showed this tool 12 months ago at RS HQ, I commented at the time I would like to use it in TR, this is a proof of concept trial only.

It has potential to have full specification data enclosed as MP pointed out, possibly even 3D cockpits and text manuals.

It'd be an Adobe Acrobat viewer or other .pdf viewer, I'd think.

Mmm, you live a sheltered life.

Adobie Acrobat

ver. 8+

It's free and damn near mandatory to view the manual with any new software, and is available on any platform Wink

Still no server but that should be resolved soon.

I have combined cockpit/external into the full A6M series and am now building a NEW series of pits for the B5N2 (all 3 positions). I've use the A6M 2D as a basis and been busily cloning and altering the 2D texture parts into the B5N where appropriate. The biggest time consumer is all the 3D window frames as on the B5N there are LOTS of these buggas. Should be done in a week, I'll post images when done and that will be 2 planes complete Wink

PS we have a new TR member tinkering in the back ground on 2D to see if he like it, I hope he loves it Wink

Stigy, do you have a bombsight to fit the B5N?

When you say "building a new series of pits for the B5N2", do you mean the ones we were last working on together? Just checking, because if you're building brand new stuff, you're going through a lot of trouble you shouldn't need to. Said another way, you have my permission to use the Kate pit stuff I was doing for 0.64. Or, we can arrange for me to send you the geometries for all 3 Kate crew spaces.

As for a bombsight, if you recall, when 0.64 went tits up, we were smack dab in the middle of trying to work out a bombsight that could be easily and reliably installed. I never could get it to work (closest being having the sight in the location I wanted, but canted to one side, and being unable to calibrate a game "through the lens" viewpoint). Also, we had a disagreement over which new (Japanese) sight pictures to use. So, short answer, no, I don't have a bombsight to fit the Kate that I had working in 0.64.

New, as in all new textures based on the A6M ones and added 3D parts to create a full single model in 2.0 format. Sorry man, my memory is not that good re past 100+ projects that we had started and not finished (fried actually) and I honestly didn't remember that we started something for the B5N pit wise? I remember the bomb sight but not the pits, just not up to remembering all that stuff we have going. I built them again myself to help learn the process so that I never have to ask for help again (unless it's offered). This helps removes that cockpit bottle neck we (TR) had and I can just do it myself if all else fails to attract assistance. My B5N should be up to a suitable standards and saves me needing bother a fellow mod dev with my 'TR' visions, which I understand are not necessarily the same as other mods.

If you 'want' I can add the bits you may have created that I am yet to build, but it matters not either way to me, so no stress, just happy to share. I have yet to add the radar panels and seats ect to the rear pits so if you have done those it would be of help?

Don't work on the A6Ms, I finished those as well as the Beaufighters and soon the B25s (should be next), I'll work my way down the list alphabetically. Was there anything else in 3D we started I don't remember about before I move onto the next TR plane? Let me know what you have finished and I'll not rebuild that saving some time.

As for new projects I have the Silo Ki67 being worked on for 2D and 3D, so don't bother with that either. I plan to pass on the B17 for work as well if all goes well, but if you want to have a play with it first I can shove it your way?

When 2.5 Blender is released perhaps you could figure out the animation and pass that info on?

PS If I'm real lucky I have also found a 2D man for TR as well, he's a fellow vRAAFer from 15 years back, so we get on well and have common interests at least Wink

Blender 2.5 has BEEN released, and I'm just now starting to have some limited success in getting my footing with it. My plan is to at least learn how to pass AC3D models through it, add animation and export a finished Collada .dae file.

As for the B5N2, allow me to refresh your memory: the old, old stock Kate pit was almost completely untextured, and not very well fleshed out, so I did all three crew spaces accurately, and textured them. So, if you've already done stuff you like, but are missing particular parts, let me know what they are and I can send those geometries. Or I can get you everything I've done and you can pick through it to select what you want to keep and what you deem unnecessary. Either way's good by me.

For a look at where it last stood....

Including this pilot view...

Mm, yes my mind is fried, didn't remember that stuff at all.

I have all the basic interior redone and frame made for the combined model. The exterior has been altered and corrected to match the internal (thick frames etc.) and all welded together. I also used some of the parts and textures from the A6M but cloned them to match the shape in the B5N better. I have no ability to post images right now but it seems quicker to just use the few bits I have not yet made and place into the B5N here? I notice a few levers etc on the right I have not made and all the stuff in the rear like radar, gun, seat, ammo etc. We have a similar look but I have stayed with the A6M Navy Dark Green int, just feels better and keeps the similarity going.. references state this was likely so ticked that box.

If you can email the plane I'll pick out the bits I need and see how that looks Wink

This is where I am up to at this point in time (see pdf) Even with the very limited skills I have in 3D/2D I think it's an improvement from the previous B5N internally.

Thanks Stig for the internal parts I used, mostly I had to increase the resolution on these bits but they helped with saving some time. I am still looking for a framed web seat for the gunner, and also still need to make a lot of radar/radio bits but it's all fleshed out internal/external combined into one. From this point making a B5N1 is also relatively simple.

Next plane?

Completed the cockpit of the F4F3 & 4 and built a new FM-2 for you Navy types to use..

I'm finding some corrupt data in these older 3D builds which adds to the time needed for a rebuild but teaches me a bit more about how to fix these problems.

I now know how to reapply a texture to an aircraft Wink
